Most people know that eating fruits and vegetables is important for good health, but most of us still aren’t getting enough. This September, Legacy Health Educators is proud to participate in Fruits & Veggies – More Matters Month.food for thought

  • Fewer than 1 in 7 adults eat the recommended amount of fruits every day.
  • Fewer than 1 in 10 adults eat the recommended amount of vegetables every day.

The great news? Communities, health professionals, businesses, and families can work together to encourage people to eat more fruits and vegetables.  The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend two cups of fruit and 2-1/2 cups of vegetables each day.

Eating a healthy diet with plenty of vegetables and fruits can help you:

  • Lower your risk for heart disease and some types of cancer
  • Maintain or reach a healthy weight
  • Keep your body strong and active

vegetablesHere are some ideas to help you and your family fit more fruits and vegetables into your day:

  • Keep a bowl of fruit handy where the whole family can see it.
  • Cut up fruits and veggies ahead of time so they’re ready for quick, healthy snacks.
  • Challenge your family to try a new veggie or fruit every week.

Remember, eating more fruits and veggies can be fun – and it’s worth it!

The end of another year is upon us. It seems that the years go by faster…the older I get. Do you feel the same? The feeling that 2014 whizzed by too fast, seems to be a common theme to many. 2014 was a great year! It did no disappoint with its surprises, sadness, serenity, and ultimate victory! (I’m still here and so are you! * smile *)

Happy-new-year-2015-pictures-picsEvery year…I take a moment to look back, and prayerfully make a list of things I would like to do, change or commit to for the New Year. I know that 2015 will provide a chance to try a few things again…what children often refer to as, “Do over…” another chance to try again, another chance to get “it” right, or just simply another chance…

What will you RESOLVE to do (or do-over) in 2015? Eat healthier? Exercise more? Decrease stress? Say “I love you” more? Be kinder? Have a more positive attitude?

What good is wealth, if one does not have good health? Start where it matters most!

new-years-resolutions-saidaonlineA few simple suggestions…

  • Take everything in moderation
  • Take small steps and try walking first before breaking into a sprint – No matter what the endeavor may be! (crawling may even be acceptable)
  • ABSOLUTION is not a good thing and serves only as a set-up for quick failure to your resolution (do not use the words “Never, All, Everything…” ) when alluding to change or new prospect.

Thank you for making 2014 a successful year for my Blog! I thoroughly enjoyed communicating with all of you and answering all your inquiries! I look forward to sharing and serving you in 2015. Be well!

I wish you Love, Peace, and Joy for 2015!
